Optimal design and performance improvement of an electric submersible pump impeller based on Taguchi approach

Electric submersible pump (ESP) is the core artificial lift equipment to production oil from underground or deep sea surface. Its energy efficiency significantly affects global market and consumption. To explore effects of impeller meridian profile on hydraulic performance, a typical multi-stage ESP with medium specific speed was taken as research object. Based statically determinate control shroud hub profiles, eight parameters were selected key factors. By taking head optimization targets, 27 schemes designed according Taguchi approach. The effect analysis method employed determine primary secondary order parameters. linear relationship between meridional target analyzed based regression analysis. results show that design intersection line front rear shrouds in has great performance. optimal model shows significant improvement both compared original model. increases 3.5% 6.1%. This study provides new inspiration optimize ESPs achieve higher lower consuming.
